Visio 2003 crashes when accessing shape's properties

When I access the (formatting) properties of a shape to change let's say
colour, pattern or anything with a dropdown menu, Visio crashes with a Code:
0xc0000005 on Adress: 0x0000000077d73e29. I've send the fault report to MS,
but is there anyone out there with a good suggestion or, even better, a fix?

I use XP Pro, with Visio 2003 (dutch) and service pack 1 (dutch).

Any suggestions welcome,
Thanks in Advance

I have the same problem. When trying to edit a database designe I rected
some time ago, if I try to change any of the column data types I get an
access violation. I've since tried changing custom properties on a variety
of shapes in other drawing types with the same result in all. The product is
now UTTERLY UNUSABLE and I'm astonished there's no apparent fix for this.
Visio 2003 had previously been installed on this same system and worked
fine. However, I did a reinstall a few weeks ago (having not used visio for
quite some time) and now I have this problem. That seems to imply that a
Windows update that's been applied in the last 6 months or so might be to
blame. I'm using XPPro SP2+ (build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) and Visio
pro 2003. I've tried Visio both with and without service pack 2, with the
same result.

I REALLY need to see some feedback about this (any MS folks ever read these
groups?). I now have a dead product on my hands and no sensible way to work
around it.
