The shapes in the Cross Functional templates are specific to their
respective views (Landscape / Portrait), so there really isn't a direct way
to convert one to the other. Creating a new drawing with the desired
characteristics, and copying over the text of the frames & swimlanes is
pretty much the only way to go manually. Once you have those re-created in
the alternate view, bringing the flowchart contents themselves over can
occur.
If you want to write code, you should be able to walk an existing drawing
and create a new one that contains the same content.
